Why?

Hmm.. that is a big question. It can include all the existentialism in this whole world. But for now this why is just for why this website? Or why such a basic looking website? Why blogs? Why notes? Why do I exist?

Okay, for the starters, I had a pretty okay looking website for years. It exists here.

Old portfolio website

But the problem was that it was not updated, for years. The projects there are something I might not want to show to anyone right now. So, I ofcourse had to update it. But who updates an old website when you can build a new one altogether (or you hate the code you wrote back then and do not want to bang your head fixing that).

Okay first of all, I have a website because I just want to mark my spot on the huge web. Maybe from years from now, this will stay as fresh as it is right now, while I might not be as fresh. Blogs and notes will make it more profound, my online self.

Now, It is a tiring business to decide how do you want your website to look.

  • It should look nice.
  • It should showcase right things at right places.
  • It should be accessible.
  • It should be readable.
  • It should be feasible to build (not considering LLMs).
  • And most importantly, it should reflect who you are.

And I am (not) proud to say that, apart from the 5th point, none has been achieved here.

Okay, so the thing is that, I love minimal functional designs. I love to do things from scratch. And well, I just wanted a nice organized new space to put things up. SInce that last website was updates, I have got a job and have settled in a new city. So, it is time to build an organized space to put my life up on.

I enjoy writing raw CSS for quite some time. I was asked in job interview what CSS framework do I prefer and I said I use bootstrap. The interviewer replied "we don't use any framework here" and that was a bit bumming at that point. But I enjoy it so much now. It is honestly tougher than JS to get a good grasp on. So, all of that story just to say that, I was about to do the same for this website. But I got to know about writ CSS and decided to use that. Midway, I felt I want atleast dark mode to make my website somewhat modern. Writ css did not have that. So, I decided to fork that 10 year old archived repo and build my version of it: WriXt CSS. And now this website is using that.

I plan to write more and more here. I get quite a bit of thoughts and ideas to write about. Hopefully, they will get converted into some blogs or notes atleast.

Well, that was my WHY blog. There is nothing similar to like subscribe share or anything. So, thanks for reading !

Cheers.
